Job Title: Nexus Construction Project Management Internship Organization: A Red Circle Site
Location: A Red Circle’s office, 6439 Plymouth Ave Suite W130, St. Louis, MO 63133, and North County Community Nexus, 9300 Lewis and Clark Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63137
Duration: January 13th, 2025- April 30th, 2025
About A Red Circle: North St. Louis County’s economy has been historically impacted by racist laws and policies. A Red Circle's mission is to restore North County to a safe, vibrant, sustainable, and economically viable community while promoting diversity and healing racial strife. Located in The Promise Zone, A Red Circle's programming includes education, community wellness, and the arts. The latest sustainable community development project is the North County Community Nexus.
About the North County Community Nexus: The Nexus is a center that will host various initiatives aiming to increase access to affordable healthy food, wellness resources, connection to the earth, small business innovation, and educational support. Situated in the old Hathaway Hills shopping center, the Nexus is to become a hub for community empowerment and economic revitalization.
Position Overview: The Nexus Construction Project Management Internship offers an immersive experience in the multifaceted realm of construction project management. This role involves supporting every aspect of a project, from personnel coordination to resource management. As an intern, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring that the North County Community Nexus adheres to established standards of scope, cost, quality, and schedule. This internship presents a chance to cultivate leadership skills in construction management to better the community.
Internship Responsibilities:
50%: Building Management: Assist in managing building operations and maintenance to ensure a safe and functional execution of the project.
50%: Construction Project Delivery Support: Aid in organizing logistics, tracking spending, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
Passion for construction and building management.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently.
Experience living, working, or volunteering in North St. Louis County preferred.
Personal transportation required.
Personal phone and laptop preferred.
Field of Study: Civil/Mechanical/Architectural/Construction Engineering or Construction Management degree program.
Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Office.
Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multitask, and self-motivated to produce high-quality work.

This role involves identifying potential lessees, partnership engagement, supporting logistics, and assisting with program details. The vision is to create a program that offers free or low-cost workspace, mentorship, access to investors, and educational programs to support entrepreneurs. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, providing opportunities for professional growth and meaningful contributions to community development efforts. Internship
Responsibilities:
50%: Entrepreneur Engagement: Research and identify entrepreneurs whose businesses would thrive in the Nexus environment.
25%: Support with space logistics: Assist in ensuring the space is vibrant and conducive to business growth, addressing questions about space utilization.
25%: Program Development: Identify potential partners who could serve as mentors, investors, education program leaders. Develop a program to support selected entrepreneurs, including months or years of training, coaching, and workshops.
